A few weeks ago, I had the sweetest visitor from Japan. Yoko was visiting from Tokyo, just had acquired a nice letterpress and wanted to start printing her own designs. She wanted to learn about the design process, how letterpress works, strategies for business, etc... It was so fun to tell her about everything I have learned. It feels like I have just started Small Square Design, but I realized that the past three years have been quite a learning experience for me. I had a lot to say!
Good luck to Yoko! Her blog is also so fun with all the photos she has taken in San Francisco.
I have two new items in the Etsy store and it seems like the theme is surplus. The first one is the Essentials Gift Tag Kit. I was looking around my office and realized that I have a few too many office supply items for my own use and decided to make a nice use of them:
The other one is the Nursery Rhymes card that I had designed for the collaboration with the Small Studios during the National Stationery Show. The extras are now for sale at my Etsy store!
I always say that just simple things around me are my inspiration for Small Square Design. I had designed this sympathy card a while ago, and John could not disagree more with the grains of the tree, saying that he has never seen grains like that:
Well, I just recently took this photo. Doesn't it look pretty similar?
Our house was recently at the blog design*sponge as they feature homes of designers every week. It was so interesting to read the comments and see what people were the most curious about. The color of John's office room and the double sink in our bathroom were the big hits!
I sent a bunch of photos of the house and they chose their favorites but there is one that did not get to the finals which I love. Lula's little play nook is so cozy, colorful, has great natural light and our friend Chris' beautiful artwork is there. Here is the photo:
