The FIBA World Basketball Championship is starting in Ankara, Turkey as we leave for Antalya. We are a tad bummed. Still, we got to see the Turkey vs Argentina game played during the Efes Pilsen World Cup as some participating countries are having these mini tournaments right now. It was FUN - John and I haven't been out together till that late in a while. It is nice to stay with grandparents!
The game was played at a new arena opened in Ankara. Very nice design. I could only take a few photos from the outside as they did not let my "professional" camera in. We had to hike back to our car (20 min round trip!). This is after a genious officer sent us from gate B to our gate F through the whole stadium passing gates C, D and E while gate F was a few steps away the other way, right after gate A! We were a little tired by the time we were in the arena and it was packed. People are excited for this championship.
We lost, but it was fun. I got to watch Hidayet Turkoglu (Hido) and Delfino live for the first time.
