I met Esra a couple years ago at Aynur's birthday party in Istanbul. She told me about her little restaurant, Acik Mutfak, by the Galata Tower, the meals she cooked, the troubles with the municipality (no tables on the street!) and I had been wanting to go to her place since then.
I could not eat at Acik Mutfak when we lived in Istanbul but when we visited this time, we stayed at a rental right by the Galata Tower and we could go to her magical place. Of course, I could not decide what to eat, ordered appetizer platters and many entrees for our big group, and they were all very good. Well done, Esra!
These are the appetizer platter and manti, the Turkish ravioli. As can be seen, I am still dating the sketch September 11th, not February. That jetlag went away the next day, my return jetlag is still waking me up too early!
